The Angst vs The Fluff

February 11, 2015

I love reading angst-filled books.  I love stories that make me feel and pull at the heartstrings.  The stories that are filled with heartbreak and challenges that make the happy ending all the more satisfying.  There’s definitely something to be said about those kinds of stories.

Pumpkin Rolls and Porn Sounds is not one of those stories.

In fact, it’s actually fairly low on the angst-meter.  Because as much as I love angst, and the emotions that go with it, sometimes I just want a fluffy, feel good story.  I was to see two men falling in love with only a little bit of drama. I go into a romance knowing it’s going to end happy, and sometimes I don’t want to work for it.

That’s what I was going for in this novella.  I wanted fluffy and sweet, and I just wanted to tell the tale of two men meeting and falling in love.  Yes, Joshua and Will have a few things they need to work through to get to their HEA.  Of course they do.  But these guys work as a couple, and they just fit.

So of course I want everybody’s opinion here.  Do you reach for the angst first?  Or the fluff?  What about these kinds of stories appeals to you?  You have until 4:30 PM EST to comment, and I’ll put you in the running for a copy of the ebook!

I like books that inspire some emotional feeling in me. Whether it be angsty, fluffy or comical. I’m all for it as long as it gives me some sort of emotional pull.

It depends on my mood. Sometimes light and fluffy and sweet is just perfect and makes me happy.

I love to read and i love books that tell a story and most of the time that story has at least a little angst in it but to keep the balance i like to read sweet, fluffy angst free books in between. The most important thing in a book for me is emotion and this can be angsty or funny.

H.B., I really like that distinction. That you like emotion, no matter what it is.

Oh, I’m a mood reader too Antonia!
