Louise Lyons blog release party for Conflicted

August 20, 2014

Hello, this is Louise Lyons and I’m here to chat to you lovely people for the afternoon/evening, depending on where you are in the world. It’s 4.30pm here in the UK and I’ll be around for a few hours. I’m looking forward to meeting you all, so please come and say ‘hi’. I’ll be posting some information about me and my book, and there will be a giveaway later on, so I hope you enjoy the party!

Conflicted coverMy first novel, Conflicted, is released today and I’m full of excitement and nerves. I’m sure many of you have been here already! I’ll start off by letting you read the blurb, in case you’ve not yet had the opportunity…

Two competing gangs of car and drag racing enthusiasts with a shared history of pain and rivalry leading to outright hatred. Two men from opposite sides of the tracks, yet more in common than they’d like to admit.

Paul Appleton is a troubled man who has never been in a relationship, having lost everyone he cared for in his life. His mother died when he was very young and subsequently, he lost his brother and his best friend. Now Paul is convinced love will always end in tears.

Greg was living on the streets after his parents died and was stabbed by a junkie, ending up in hospital. The Buchanans took Greg under their wing while doing charity work, and Greg joined their loving family when he was adopted. He and his siblings are also car enthusiasts with much more money and therefore better cars than Paul Appleton’s gang.

When they eventually find a connection, Paul fights his feelings and tries to convince himself his lover is only a temporary bit of fun, but Greg has other ideas.

Conflicted is available as both an eBook and Paperback, links below.

Question: Are any of you interested in this type of scene yourself? If not, is there a particular type of show you like to go to? Planes, pets, crafts, sports?

Hi Louise, I pre-ordered your book and I’m looking forward to reading it. Used to go to lots of craft fairs I’m no good at making things but I do like to browse the stalls.

Hi Shirley, thank you for coming and ordering the book. I hope you enjoy it!

I love craft fairs. I can’t make anything, but I can do cross stitch and knit. Two of my favorite hobbies when I’m not writing :)

  3. Ooooh, your book sounds intriguing! I like characters that are rough around the edges.

I’m not really a car enthusiast myself, but as for shows I enjoy, I do love craft fairs. Also–and I don’t know if these count–I’ve been to plenty of comic book/toy/general geekery shows/conventions.

Thanks, I hope people will find it interesting. It doesn’t well on the car scene really apart from in the first couple of chapters.

I am interested in craft fairs myself. I’m no good at making anything, sadly – but I do enjoy doing cross stitch. Comic book/toy fairs definitely count :)

    Hi Louise
Congrats on your first novel being released :)

What can get me out of the house AND away from my books are aerial shows even though I fear flying. But put me in front of a F16 or any other fighter plane and I’m drooling (not very attractive).

Hi Lena, thank you for commenting and for the congratulations :)

I love aircraft too! Clearly a woman after my own heart. I used to love going to airshows with my dad when I was a kid and watching the Red Arrows and the old Lancaster. F16s are awesome too – in fact anything than flies puts a smile on my face.
