Spring Has (almost) Sprung with Xara X. Xanakas

spring

For a lot of us, this weekend marks the beginning of Daylight Saving Time. That magical time of year when we lose one hour of sleep. Then you have to wander around your house and change the time on everything. Your cell phone and computer should be smart enough to figure it out by themselves, but your microwave, oven, coffee maker, alarm clocks, all those glowing lights around your house that blink every time the power goes out, all those things wait for you to stumble around on one less hour of sleep to figure out how to reset them again.

If you’re wondering whose bright idea this was, it’s been around forever. Not all states observe it. And even though Benjamin Franklin suggested it, it wasn’t adopted in the U.S. until 1918.

But look at what we gain from losing that hour. An extra hour of daylight. That doesn’t just mean no more trudging commutes in the dark. It means spring is coming. The cold is moving out, making way for blue skies and warmer days. Trees waking up and flowers blooming. You’ve made it through another miserable winter, and brighter days are ahead. Spring forward and embrace it.

~xXx~
